BAR HARBOR -- The town of Bar Harbor has suspended all outdoor burning effective immediately due to overt fire hazards.
According to a release from the Town of Bar Harbor, effective immediately, all outdoor burning has been suspended, including campfires, for the entire town.
Factors that contributed to the decision include a lack of recent rain, ongoing high fire danger, and forecasted increased winds with gusts reaching up to 30 mph.
In the release, Bar Harbor Fire Chief Matthew Bartlett stated:
"On Sunday morning, we will review our decision using the State of Maine Forest fire danger report, the National Weather Service weather forecast, and other information available to the department to determine how long the suspension should remain in effect.
