FARMINGTON, Conn — A well-dressed crowd at the UConn Medical Center added some style and gravitas to their wardrobes on Friday. The newest class of first-year University of Connecticut Medical Students took part in the tradition of the “White Coat Ceremony” inside the school’s auditorium.

Dr. Bruce Liang, the dean of the UConn School of Medicine, said, “This is really the beginning of the medical journey for the students. You can see their parents are so proud, and we want to maintain that level of excitement for the next four years.”

Lukas Klin was one of the white coat recipients. The new first year medical student decided to stay close to home; Klin went to Newington High School and graduated from UConn Storrs.
