LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — As the Athletics’ arrival in the Las Vegas Valley nears, the cost of housing them in a Las Vegas Strip stadium has risen, according to Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority officials.

During a Las Vegas Stadium Authority meeting Thursday, it was announced that the budget to construct the baseball stadium has increased to $1.75 billion, up from $1.5 billion.

Steve Hill, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, said the public would not have to pay more than the $380 million that was initially agreed upon, and that team owner John Fisher will cover the rest of the bill.
