Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse quarterback Steve Angeli saw a national finalist up close last season. He thinks the Orange’s receivers are just as good.

They just need someone to get them the ball.

That, Angeli said, is why he sees himself as a good fit as the starting quarterback in Syracuse offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon’s offense, a role he officially took hold of Monday.

“My job is to be a distributor,” Angeli said on Friday, his first comments to reporters since being named the starter. “My job is to get the ball into the playmakers’ hands. We have a plethora of playmakers all over.”

Syracuse led the country in passing last year with quarterback Kyle McCord distributing the ball relatively equally among his top four options.
