Following a two-day break after concluding fall camp, Michigan State returned to the practice field on Thursday.

It coincided with the Big Ten Network’s annual visit to East Lansing during its tour of the conference as coaches and players sat down for interviews.

“I feel confident in our approach going into year two here that, yeah, we didn’t wholesale change a lot of things,” coach Jonathan Smith, who posted a 5-7 record last year, told BTN in an episode that aired late Thursday night. “We came up short in ways, didn’t play as high a level as we wanted to in year one but that didn’t mean what we implemented didn’t work. We’ve just got to do it better and getting in the second year to do that.”
