A Coweta man accused of chasing another vehicle for nearly four miles was sentenced to two years in prison on Thursday.

On Friday, Aug. 15, a jury found Michael Walpole, Jr. guilty of one count of aggravated assault, one count of obstruction of a law enforcement officer and one count of DUI per-se/less safe.

Initial incident

On June 14, 2021, the victim was driving onto Greenville Street in downtown Newnan when he noticed the defendant behind him burning out his tires.

As the victim made his way to the Jackson Street intersection, the defendant began tailgating his vehicle and making gestures out of his driver’s side window.

The victim continued toward Roscoe Road, where the defendant attempted to drive his vehicle ahead of the victim’s, but was unsuccessful.
