Blue Bell issues allergy alert for some half-gallon ice cream cartons

BRENHAM, Texas (KLTV) - Some half-gallon cartons of Blue Bell ice cream may contain undeclared nuts, the company says, leading to a limited recall.

Some half-gallon cartons that read Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough on the side may contain Moo-llennium Crunch, Blue Bell said on Friday. The cartons affected should have a Moo-llennium labeled lid, in contrast with the name on the side.

An employee noticed the incorrect packaging on two units while restocking a retailer, a Blue Bell release said. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date, but people with allergies or severe sensitivity to almonds, walnuts or pecans run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the product.
