Contractors were selected to install a $120 million undersea optical fiber cable system that will expand high-speed internet throughout the state.
Ocean Networks, Inc., a telecom development and service company in charge of constructing, operating and maintaining the inter-island cable system, announced Friday the selection of global cable solutions provider Prysmian and submarine cable engineering and installation specialist International Telecom Inc. for the Hawaii Islands Fiber Link project.
Under the agreement, Prysmian will supply 460 miles of high-quality submarine cable, while International Telecom Inc. provides engineering and installation services for the HIFL system.
