An operator of an electric scooter suffered life-threatening injuries early Friday when a vehicle struck the scooter on Creek Ridge Road, the Greensboro Police Department said.

Police and other first responders reported to the accident site between Riverside Drive and US 29 at about 4:51 a.m. and transported the scooter operator to a local hospital.

The accident forced closure of Creek Ridge for several hours, the release said.

The driver who struck the scooter remained at the scene, the release said. Police have not shared any information about pending charges against the driver or victim.

No information about the type of vehicle involved was immediately available.

The GPD's Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the case, the release said.
