CLAYTON — A woman is suing a Richmond Heights hospital, claiming its staff did not do enough to stop a patient who sexually assaulted her in 2022.

The woman, who filed under the pseudonym Jane Doe, was 63 when the attack happened in December 2022 at the SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital on Clayton Road in Richmond Heights, the suit says.

The assault was investigated by police. The patient, Quincy Stroud, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse.

Jane Doe's lawyer, Grant Boyd, declined to comment Friday but said in the suit that the hospital knew of Stroud's "propensity for dangerous behavior (and) violence," and should have done more to prevent the attack.

"St. Mary’s failed to institute and implement adequate security measures to make its premises safe," the suit says.
