GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Good news for drivers on the northeast side of Grand Rapids: cones are finally being removed from Plainfield Avenue north of I-96.
According to Plainfield Township officials, the road is reopening to traffic — but it’s only a short break. Work will resume in just a couple of weeks as crews continue a months-long project.
The makeover stretches from I-96 to Airway Street NE. MDOT said resurfacing, traffic signal upgrades and new landscaped medians are all part of the plan to calm traffic and make the road safer for drivers and pedestrians.
At Real Food Café, management said the roadwork has already raised questions from customers.
“We have had a lot of concern from people that do come into the restaurant saying that they’ve kind of been avoiding it because of the s
