Nashville police are investigating after a decomposed, headless body was found near 3300 Dickerson Pike.

Police were called to the scene just before 10 a.m. Aug. 22 on the report of a corpse, according to the department's Computer-Aided Dispatch log.

MNPD spokesperson Brooke Reese said during a media briefing a woman found the body. It was described as a severely decomposed grouping of skeletal remains in the woods behind a Dickerson Pike restaurant.

About 100 feet from the body, near the parking lot of the restaurant, investigators found a skull in a "deep state of decomposition," Reese said.
