GARY — When a new sports season rolls around, higher expectations are often set by coaches.
The same applies to IU Northwest women's soccer coach Jamie McNicholas.
McNicholas is entering his fourth year with a program that has gradually progressed in recent seasons.
The RedHawks concluded the 2023 season 3-9-5. The program took a step in the right direction ending last year 8-8-2, breaking .500 for the first time.
With the 2025 season set to begin Saturday against Lawrence Tech, McNicholas has additional goals he hopes his athletes can achieve.
"The last three years we've taken strides of improvement of the program," he said. "I think that is the main goal — whether that's improving our record or making the conference tournament for the first time."
