The Head Pharmacist of Rite Aid Coronado will be opening a new independent pharmacy in the coming months to continue serving the community after the store’s recent termination of operations. The new business, Crown Coast Pharmacy, will be located at 928 Orange Avenue, in the space formerly occupied by Wine-A-Bit.

Rite Aid recently closed all of its stores nationwide after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2025 (see “Local Drug-Store Staple Expected to Close at the End of This Month”). When the pharmacy closed on July 30, customers had either the option of receiving their prescriptions from CVS, which is located over the bridge, or Walgreens, the drug store located on the next block.
