ROSELAND, La. — As emergency crews worked to contain the aftermath of a , neighbors quickly pulled out their phones to document what they were seeing and hearing.
Viewers shared photos and videos showing plumes of smoke rising near the intersection of Highway 51 and Highway 10. Some said the sound rattled their homes and carried as far as Independence.
Officials expanded the evacuation zone to a 1-mile radius as a precaution, citing fire and debris as the main concerns. Highway 51 remains shut down, and students from Roseland Elementary were transported to Amite for pickup.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
