PULLMAN, Wash. — A former Washington State University instructor pleaded guilty to assaulting a student for wearing a Trump hat.
Patrick Mahoney, a graduate student and instructor at WSU at the time, admitted guilt on Thursday to fourth-degree assault in Whitman County District Court. The charge comes from a February altercation on College Hill, where Pullman Police said Mahoney attacked a student without warning.
A judge sentenced Mahoney in a hearing to 364 days in jail with 357 days suspended. Which means he must only serve seven days in jail.
