MACON, Ga. — After months of forced detours and traffic shifts, Macon's Bass Road Bridge is scheduled to reopen Saturday, bringing relief to commuters who have navigated alternate routes since February.

The bridge connects Interstate 75 with the busy Zebulon Road shopping area. State crews have worked since February to tear down and rebuild the aging structure over the railroad tracks.

For local business owner Nicole McCormack, who runs Macon Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with her husband Rob, the closure turned a simple 15-minute commute into a 25-minute journey via Rivoli Drive to bypass the bridge.
