TAYLORS, S.C. (WSPA) - On Thursday, August 22, 2025, a man from Taylors was hit and killed while directing traffic.

The incident occurred at the intersection of East North Street and Terramont Drive. Yet, the victims' death raises concerns over pedestrian safety. According to Highway Patrol Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway, 91 pedestrians have died so far this year. This time last year, the total was 99 pedestrians.

Ridgeway says both pedestrians and drivers have to work together to prevent accidents like this from happening.

"Pedestrians and drivers, we all have to work together to do our part. Drivers have to pay attention for pedestrians and pedestrians have to pay attention to vehicles," MT Ridgeway said.
