ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The City of Alexandria touted lowering crime rates within city boundaries in a release on August 22. The released statistics showcased a lowering crime trend despite a recent report ranking the city as the sixth most dangerous in the United States for 2025-26.

Statistics provided by the City of Alexandria:

Property crime trends from January 1, 2022, to December 2024

Vehicle burglaries: 11% decrease

Aggravated burglaries: 50% decrease

Unauthorized entries: 45% decrease

Felony thefts (values over $1,000): 13% decrease

Overall property crimes: 12% decrease

Mayor Jacques Roy and Police Chief Chad Gremillion emphasized that property crime data since June 2025, has additionally seen downward trends.
