This week, I attended a minor league game for the Mariners High-A affiliate, the Everett AquaSox.

Interesting Red Sox connection there—when the team left the San Francisco Giants organization for the Mariners in 1995, they wanted a rebrand. Long story short, “Sox” was appended to the initial idea for the name due to its connection to classic baseball (both Red and White Sox). I only learned that last night, even though I go to a game or two every season.

It was another family outing, though I didn’t ask our nephew about a favorite player from this game. That would have been hard to do…because the AquaSox were awful. It was one of those nights where the baseball took a bit of a backseat and you needed to enjoy the company you were keeping and the beautiful summer weather.
