OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - The 2025 KICL mountain bike season has officially begun.

Youth riders from all over the state of Kentucky showed out to the Rudy Mines Bike Track to show their stuff.

Boys and girls grades 5-12 were all eligible to compete and test their perserverance.

Twenty-four teams attended the event, each with a wide variety of racers.

Parents also showed up to support their kids, ringing cowbells to show their love.

Officials say anyone can make or join a team to compete, whether they’ve been around the block a time or two or if it’s they’re very first time.

Park Dudley is one of those racers who’s logged a few miles.

“Really fun, it’s fun. It’s like a track meet for cross country running, but it’s biking so I like it a lot better,” Dudley stated.
