Santa Fe’s next mayor will face a laundry list of problems, projects and priorities. Among them is the ambitious redevelopment of the 64-acre midtown campus at 1600 St. Michael’s Drive.

Home to the former College of Santa Fe, the property was purchased by the city for about $30 million in 2009 and was leased to a private company that operated the Santa Fe University of Art and Design until 2018, when the redevelopment effort began. After terminating an initial agreement with an outside developer, the city decided to take on the redevelopment itself and outlined goals for the project in 2022 with the midtown master plan.
