A boozer that stood shuttered for five years, one housed in a former furniture store and a local owned by its punters are among those vying for the title of Britain's finest pub.
The shortlist also features a 300 year old establishment that serves as headquarters for over 10 local clubs and societies, another that has remained in the same family's hands since 1858, and two micro-pubs.
