Fernand, the sixth tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, formed on Saturday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

As of the 5 p.m. advisory, Tropical Storm Fernand was located 485 miles east-northeast of Bermuda. It has maximum sustained winds of 60 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1000 millibars, NHC says. Latest Forecast

Fernand is moving northward at about 14 mph and should move across the open waters of the subtropical central Atlantic, NHC says.

Some strengthening is forecast, and it is expected to reach near-hurricane strength by Monday.

Weakening is expected to begin on Tuesday, and the system poses no threat to Florida.
