INDIANAPOLIS – Residents will have another chance Monday night to weigh in on a proposed rate hike from AES Indiana.

The utility company is seeking an increase that would be phased in, with the first 7.5% increase in the second quarter of 2026 and a later 6% increase in January 2027.

For a residential customer using about 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month (around the average customer’s usage), it would add about $21 to a monthly bill.

AES Indiana said the hike is needed to address operational costs, maintenance and future investments.

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission is holding a series of public field hearings on the matter where customers can voice their concerns about the rate increase.

Monday’s meeting is slated for 6 p.m. at New Augusta North Public Academy, 6450 Rodebaugh
