Reggie Carroll, a 52-year-old comedian from Baltimore, Maryland, was shot and killed in Southaven, Mississippi, on August 20. Authorities confirmed that Carroll succumbed to his injuries after being shot. A suspect has been taken into custody and charged with his murder.

The Southaven Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on Burton Lane. Upon arrival, officers found Carroll suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts from medical personnel to provide life-saving assistance, he did not survive.

In a statement, police said, "One male is in custody and has been charged with the murder of Reginald Carroll. Our thoughts are with the family of Mr. Carroll. Thank you to the community for their patience and understanding." The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, but authorities have not released details about a possible motive or the identity of the suspect.

Carroll was known for his stand-up comedy performances across the country. He hosted the 2023 comedy special "Knockout Kings of Comedy" and appeared in various television shows, including a 2000 episode of "The Parkers" and the variety series "Showtime at the Apollo."

Fellow comedian Mo'Nique paid tribute to Carroll on social media, referring to him as her "brother in comedy." She shared fond memories of their time together on tour, stating, "This is why I say treat people the best you can because you never know if you'll get a chance to see them again. The last time me and my brother Reggie were together, that’s what it was, an amazing time."

Jonathan Carroll, Reggie's brother, expressed gratitude for the support from friends and fans. He wrote on Facebook, "To all who have expressed condolences on the passing of Reggie Carroll, your love has been well received—thank you!"

Club Mobtown Comedy in Baltimore also honored Carroll, stating, "Rest in power @comedianreggiecarroll, thank you for being one of the OGs who supported us early on. The Mobtown family and the Baltimore comedy community are very saddened by this loss of one of our city's great talents."
