Crews worked for more than an hour before the fire was deemed to be under control

Ottawa fire crews battled a fire in a townhome on Waterfern Way for more than an hour on Sunday afternoon. Article content

Ottawa Fire Services took multiple 911 calls at 3:02 p.m. about flames and black smoke coming from an attached townhome in the 100 block of Waterfern. Article content Article content

After arriving, firefighters confirmed there was heavy, black smoke and fire at the back of the building, and additional resources were sent to the scene at 3:06 p.m.

By 4:23 p.m., the fire was under control, the fire service said in a news release.

Two full searches of the townhome were conducted, but no occupants were found inside.
