For the first half of the 2025 season, Stewart Friesen, Matt Sheppard, and Mat Williamson were dominating most of the major DIRT big-block modified events in the Central New York area.

But with Friesen’s injuries and with Sheppard off his normal pace, Mat Williamson has taken over as the top gun on the DIRT big-block modified circuit.

This weekend, the St. Catharines, Ontario, racer racked up feature wins at the Ransomville and Land of Legends speedways to run his season win total to 25. In addition, DIRT officials were unable to come up with a suitable rain date for the recent Summerfast rainout at Land of Legends and the race has officially been cancelled.
