WASHINGTON, Okla. —

An Oklahoma sheriff's office says a deputy's home and vehicles were destroyed after being set on fire early Saturday, with the fire set while the deputy and his family were inside the home.

McClain County Sheriff Landy Offolter said the deputy called dispatchers early Saturday saying that his “pickup had exploded and that somebody had tried to bomb his house.” Advertisement

“So, we all responded. Got several agencies that responded to assist,” Offolter said. “There was a suspect that covered the vehicles with gas and then set the gas on fire … and then that caught to the house.”

Offolter said a neighbor knocked on the door of the home and woke the deputy up and he and his family escaped the burning house.
