MECOSTA COUNTY, Michigan — Officials released more information on Friday's deputy-involved shooting in Mecosta County.
Around 11:20 a.m., deputies responded to an address on Hayes Road near 230th Avenue in Mecosta Township.
There, a homeowner called law enforcement, saying a woman was on his property and refused to leave.
While two deputies were speaking with the woman, she refused their commands and assaulted them. She then made "the motion to throw a gasoline explosive device at him and his partner," deputies say.
The sheriff's office said that the deputies faced an "immediate and significant threat to their safety" in that moment, "forcing" one of the deputies to shoot her.
