Iowa State University police confirmed that "several" reports of an active shooter on campus were false, noting similarities to recent threats across the country.
The Iowa State University Police Department said they received serveral calls of an active shooter on campus as students began the fall semester on Monday, Aug. 25.
Officers confirmed that the reports were "false" in a press release around 10:47 a.m., finding no credible threat.
