Singers and dancers join forces on stage to present a work based on Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'

“Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow.” The opening words of Macbeth’s famous soliloquy come to life this weekend as three performances of a combined opera, ballet and classical music production based on the Shakespearean tragedy are staged at the Marigny Opera House.

From Friday through Sunday, at 8 p.m. nightly, four dancers and four opera singers, accompanied by a string quintet and piano, will perform selections from Giuseppe Verdi’s 1847 “Macbeth” opera. There will also be selections from Henry Purcell’s “The Fairy Queen,” which is derived from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

Bogdan Mynka, a Ukrainian tenor now residing in New Orleans, is the creator, producer and artistic director.
