Matthew Rooney was a New York-based writer and artist who sold his Midtown condo in Palm Beach last year.

Mr. Rooney's mother and brother own homes on the island, as do other members of the Rooney family.

Mr. Rooney's grandfather, Art Sr., was the founding owner of the National Football League's Pittsburgh Steelers.
