The other day, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan announced at Michigan Central Station in Corktown that more than 200 former and current elected officials in Michigan have endorsed his bid for governor as an Independent. Notably absent from the list were all the members of the Detroit City Council — including Council President Mary Sheffield, whom Duggan has endorsed for mayor.

Detroit Free Press investigative columnist M.L. Elrick notes that Duggan has often said one of his greatest accomplishments was building a good working relationship with the City Council.
