BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Michael Gillich III, 58, was found guilty of touching a child for lustful purposes by a Harrison County Jury last week.

The trial lasted three days, and the jury deliberated for approximately three and a half hours before returning a verdict.

The case began after the child told a family member about the crime in November 2022. The young girl was taken to the hospital, and the crime was reported to the Biloxi Police Department.

Officials said the 12-year-old girl was sexually abused by her mother’s boyfriend while she was visiting in October of 2022.

After interviewing the child, officials learned that Gillich III began sexually abusing the child when she was 7.
