ATLANTA — A growing field of candidates is now running for lieutenant governor. State Senator Blake Tillery is among them.

The Vidalia Republican detailed his motivation for entering the race and his priorities if elected in an extended interview with The Georgia Vote .

Income tax elimination

Like other Republican candidates and lawmakers , Tillery has made slashing the Georgia income tax a focus of his campaign.

In a press release announcing his candidacy, he promised to "eliminate the state income tax" if elected lieutenant governor.
