DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- Nearly $9,000 worth of items were stolen out of packages at the UPS Middletown Hub by an employee, police say.

Lower Swatara Township Police said in a criminal complaint that 28-year-old Dandre Sibblies, of Lemoyne, allegedly admitted to stealing merchandise, which included jewelry and Ray-Ban sunglasses, when confronted by UPS Security.

In a statement sent to abc27 News, a spokesperson for UPS says they have a "zero-tolerance for theft," and the employee was fired.

"At UPS, we have zero tolerance for theft and take action when it occurs," the statement reads. "We are aware of the situation and this employee was terminated. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation and refer any additional questions to them."
