Massachusetts students may eventually be able to sleep in a bit longer, with lawmakers considering a proposal that would mandate later school start times statewide.
Some towns, like Westwood, have already pushed start times back. An advocate for the change pointed to studies based on sleep science, which found that later start times gave adolescents a better chance at a good night's sleep and the benefits that come with that.

The start time at Westwood High School was pushed back 50 minutes, from 7:25 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The downside - it cut it close for some parents heading to work in the morning, and for students working after school, who are dismissed at 2:55 p.m.
