At roughly 2:27 p.m. on April 25, Wood Buffalo RCMP were told a bystander had stumbled across the body of a man later identified as Kurtis Atkinson of Fort McMurray. Article content

Penny Laine Scott, 40, was arrested earlier this month and has been charged with second-degree murder and interfering with a dead body. She appeared in the Fort McMurray Court of Justice on Aug. 25 and her next appearance is scheduled for Sept. 8.

A second person, Travis Austin Timmons, 34, of Fort McMurray has also been arrested. Timmons is also charged with second-degree murder and interfering with a dead body. He also appeared in court on Aug. 2
