A Great Dane and Chihuahua died in a house fire in Long View on Sunday evening.

The Long View Fire Department responded to 308 20th St. SW for a reported structure fire. Firefighters arrived less than two minutes after the call, Long View Fire Department said in a news release.

The responding firefighters fought the blaze from both inside and outside of the two-story house. There were 16 firefighters working and extinguished the flames in 39 minutes, Long View Fire Department said.

Greg Jones, a 17-year resident of the home, said the fire heavily damaged the interior of the house on the lower left side and upstairs. A large, charred hole could be seen at the rear of the house’s second floor.
