U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is expected to meet with NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch Monday afternoon, a police spokesperson said.
The meeting, planned at least a week ago, comes at time when President Trump has discussed the possibility of sending federal troops into more cities where he feels crime needs to be tamped down. Mayor Adams has insisted, citing the declining murder and shooting rate, that the NYPD doesn’t need any help.
Trump is also opposed to cashless bail and on Monday he signed an executive order threatening to reverse federal funding for states where suspects are often released without bail.
