Petra Kvitova cut an emotional figure as she signed off her stellar career with a first-round defeat at the US Open.
The two-time Grand Slam champion was beaten in straight sets by Diane Parry at Flushing Meadows on Sunday.
Kvitova crashed out with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat to her French opponent.
The former world no.2 was in tears following the match having confirmed her retirement earlier this year.
She had stated back in June that she planned to hang up her racket at the event aged 35.
Her announcement came after missing the entirety of last year to have her son.
However, it did not prevent Kvitova from giving an emotional on-court interview.
