STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — President Donald Trump issued an executive order Monday targeting federal funding sent to states and localities with cashless bail.

The executive order tasks the Justice Department with compiling a list by Sept. 24 of states and local jurisdictions that have, in the opinion of Attorney General Pam Bondi, “substantially eliminated cash bail” as a condition for pretrial release.
