The University of Florida’s board of trustees voted unanimously Monday to pick a medical doctor and researcher from Columbia University to be the institution’s interim president.
UF has been without a permanent president since Ben Sasse abruptly resigned his post more than a year ago. Its attempt to hire the University of Michigan’s former president, Santa Ono , ended in failure when conservative leaders — in Florida and nationwide — denounced the choice and Florida’s higher education board then voted down Ono in June.
