GREENVILLE, Fla. (WCTV) - After several years, Greenville Mayor Ryan Kornegay says the town is finally moving closer to bringing its grocery store to life.

“This project has been going on for about five years, and a lot of different hands have been touching it,” Kornegay said. “Unfortunately, when I got on the council, we kind of had to figure out where things were and what needed to be done.”

Kornegay said the town has since assembled a task force to help make the grocery store a reality, especially for people who don’t have transportation to get to neighboring counties.

“There’s not a grocery store for about 15 or 20 miles,” Kornegay said. “We’re in the middle of a food desert here in Greenville.”
