EAST LIVERPOOL An East Liverpool man who pled guilty to a deadly pedestrian crash earlier in August has learned his fate.

Seventy-year-old Paul Vojnovich was sentenced to 180 days in jail on one count of vehicular homicide/manslaughter, with 60 of those days suspended to bring that number down to 120.

Once he's released, Vojnovich will be on probation for two years and will have his driver's license suspended for four years.

Vojnovich was sentenced in connection with a crash that claimed the life of 76-year-old James Schmitt, who was crossing the street as Vojnovich was driving a Jeep Compass in April of 2023.

A police report stated Vojnovich told officers he did not see Schmitt.
