LANSING, Mich. — Governor Gretchen Whitmer is appealing several federal disaster aid denials for multiple counties in Northern Michigan following devastating ice storms in March .

“Many Northern Michiganders are still reeling from the impacts of the ice storm that devastated communities earlier this year,” said Gov. Whitmer. “Michigan families and businesses deserve the support they need to recover from these storms. That’s why I’m appealing FEMA’s disaster aid denials. I’ll keep fighting like hell to deliver relief for our residents, local governments and utility providers.”

The historic ice storms in Northern Michigan lasted for multiple days in late March, knocking down trees and power lines, blocking roads and leaving thousands without power for multiple days.
