The town of Garner is expected to unveil a new logo this week. But the selection of the new design has caused friction among elected officials in the growing Wake County town.

The process has been a lengthy one. In 2024, the Garner Town Council decided the town needed to go through a rebranding process because the blue-and-gold logo the town has used for many years doesn’t work well in some contexts. In January 2025, the town selected Garner design firm GrafixHouse and paid the firm $65,000 for the project.

After months of back and forth about design concepts, the council voted 3-2 last week to move ahead with an option supporters say reflects the town’s new identity, but critics say is too industrial and doesn’t reflect Garner’s past or hometown identity.
