A standoff in southeast Amarillo on Monday, Aug. 25 ended with a person taken into custody for a mental health evaluation, authorities said.
The Randall County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to a home in rural Randall County after a report of a 75-year-old man threatening suicide. The man was reportedly armed and making threats to harm deputies, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies located the man near Loop 335 and Osage Street, where Randall County patrol deputies, SWAT, and negotiators responded. He was taken into custody without injury and taken to the Pavilion for a mental health evaluation. His identity was not released.
