LEWISBURG — An aggressive invasive species in the Susquehanna River Valley is far more widespread than previously thought, according to Bucknell University biology professor Dr. Chris Martine.
Detailed in a soon-to-be-published research paper in the journal Castanea, Martine identifies this "new" invasive plant species as garden loosestrife ( Lysimachia vulgaris ). It is a species native to Europe and northern Africa that is a significant problem in the Pacific Northwest but was not previously considered abundant in this region.
